Netbook Comparison – How to Buy a Netbook
Netbooks are the newest members of the computer class. They are ultra mobile computers that being used for light tasks like web surfing but are increasingly being used for more tasking tasks. I’ll explain what to look for when buying a netbook. It just might become your only computer!
Instructions
- Always make sure that the netbook you are buying has a Intel Atom processor. If it doesn’t, you won’t be buying the best on the market.
- Make sure that it has at least 1 GB of DDR2 memory. With the Atom processor, a lean operating system, and at least 1 GB of memory, you netbook will have supreme performance.
- Don’t buy a netbook with a screen smaller than 8.9″. If it is smaller than 8.9″, the screen’s resolution will be poor and you will probably have to toggle over to see everything on the screen. Not to mention that your keyboard will be extremely small if the screen is smaller than 8.9″
- Make sure the netbook has a regular hard drive with at least 80 GB of space.
- The netbook should have an operating system that you are looking for. Many people prefer to have a Linux OS on their netbook. However, many people want a netbook with XP for business purposes (or personal preference). Linux and XP netbooks abound. Don’t buy a netbook with Vista. Vista is flaky on larger computers with 4x the memory of a standard netbook, so the performance would be extremely poor.
- As mentioned above, buy a netbook with a comfortable keyboard. most are 85% – 90% of the size of a standard keyboard.
Tips & Warnings
